Coaching Philosophy

Years of experience has taught me to keep it simple! In order to do that I have learnt to listen to my students, look at how they are going about hitting the ball, ask what they want to achieve, decide what is important for them to understand about their swing and why I will make changes to achieve their required outcomes.

A golfer only has to make a few practice swings and it is easy to see what they are thinking in regards to how they will go about hitting the ball and predict the results that they will get. This gives an insight into what must be explained before making changes. According to Master Professional Gary Wiren from the United States, “Your understanding makes a proper swing, the proper swing does not create understanding”.

In order to keep things simple I have to be able to explain the difference between what a player is doing that is causing their problems and what they have to do to improve their shots. The keys to any good golf swing are balance which is achieved by maintaining good body angles and coordination of the arm and shoulder movements which control swing plane. The five basic moves that I teach explain these movements simply and are easy to coordinate into a functioning golf swing that is consistent.
